Infinix ZERO 30 5G Mobile review – Best Phone

OVERVIEW - I have been using large-screen foldable smartphones for a few years now. I started with the Samsung Galaxy Fold 3, but it was too tight when folded, so I always had to open it to do anything. The Fold 4 was slightly better, but still not a great "external display" experience. The Pixel Fold has been my primary phone since it launched a few months ago, but because the external screen on it is so good I quickly found myself ONLY using it folded and rarely opening it to take advantage of the large internal display . Since I was actually using an expensive, small, big phone, I thought, "Why not try this new infinix ZERO 30 5G Mobile"? And I tried, and as a result my Pixel Fold goes to a new owner! The Infinix ZERO 30 5G smartphone isn't perfect, but it does a lot of things very well and the features are within reach for me, especially at a price of ~$300.

What is it?

The Infinix ZERO 30 5G smartphone is a mid-range (or even budget price if you hit the rumored $300 in North America) phone with a lot of key features like a curved glass on the front, a bright AMOLED display with a high refresh rate and excellent battery life. What sets it apart from most phones, however, is the full 4K 60FPS camera hole on the front (for video calling, recording on social media, or just seeing your beautiful face in any lighting conditions with the front flash). I should also mention the size and weight here, as that's the reason I switched to this as my daily gear - it looks like it's all screen apart from a fairly narrow top and bottom bezel, and it only weighs 185 grams (6.5 oz) . By comparison, most other large protected phones weigh just 200 grams, a noticeable difference. With a screen-to-body ratio of almost 93%, it packs a bigger screen than the iPhone 15 Pro Max into a smaller, lighter phone.

Design and features

The front of the Infinix ZERO 30 5G smartphone consists almost entirely of a screen. From the head only a very thin black stripe above and below is visible. The curved edges of the screen give the illusion of no bezel at all.

When I returned the phone, I was sent the Rome Green color for review. There is also the Golden Hour and Fantasy Purple option. I've never been a big gold/green fan, but it's grown on me. The back is covered with a structured and soft material that is very pleasant to the touch. The camera array consists of 3 cameras and a flash. I just noticed while writing this review that it is neither centered nor evenly spaced. It's an interesting design choice, but it lays flat and doesn't wobble when placed on its back on a table (at least with the included cover - easy wobble no).

At the bottom, we have a USB-C port, speaker grill, microphone, and dual SIM tray. In the photo above you can just see the factory-installed screen protector, it started bubbling after about 3 weeks and I removed it. The screen is noticeably smoother if you can slide your finger over it with the screen protector removed.

The top of the phone has a microphone and speaker opening, and that's it.

And on the right side of the phone are the only buttons: the power/voice assistant and the volume rocker.

The pictures really don't do justice to the thinness of this phone, it really does feel a lot lighter than any flagship phone I've used in this size
